An introduction to mobile first design and development
James Banks @web3official (http://twitter.com/web3official) | http://web3.com.au (http://web3.com.au/)
The way that people are accessing websites and consuming information is changing. Thanks to the increasingly widespread adoption of smartphone and tablet devices, people are using these devices more and more to surf the web. The mobile-first design philosophy has been developed so that web developers and designers can create a better mobile web experience for their users.
To successfully develop a website using the mobile before desktops approach requires you to have a laser-focused idea of what you want to achieve, an easy to understand mobile wireframe and a good foundation to develop your mobile-first website from. I will be covering these areas in detail throughout my presentation tonight, along with tips based on my personal experience developing mobile-first WordPress themes and websites.
Data sovereignty
Patrick Sefton @plgs (https://twitter.com/plgs)
Web designers and developers are often responsible for datacollections such as access logs, user identity information and commentdatabases. Occasionally, other parties or law enforcement may beinterested in the content of that data. This talk will cover what webdesigners and developers, in their role as data custodians, should knowabout mechanisms for external access to data collections. It will includepractical tips for anyone on the receiving end of a subpoena, civil searchorder or search warrant
