Banarasi Tana Bana - Mystical, Musical, Mesmerising
Details
Dates: 25-28 Dec 2025
There’s a quiet magic in the way winter arrives in Banaras. The mornings turn softer—wrapped in a faint mist, touched by the golden glow of the rising sun, and carried forward by the gentle chanting along the ghats. The air feels crisp but comforting, the kind that makes you hold your chai a little longer just to savour the warmth.
This Christmas long weekend gives us the perfect pause—a chance to step away from routine and step into a city where every stone has a story, every alley a secret, and every ghatside moment feels eternal. It’s the season where Banaras feels just right: not too cold, not too warm, just the perfect weather to wander, sit by the river, sip, breathe, and experience.
We’ll explore the traces of Kabir—his philosophy, his lived wisdom, and his lingering spirit in the bylanes and in the voices that still sing him. We’ll lose ourselves in the world of Banarasi textiles—silks, weaves, motifs, craftsmanship—and meet the hands and heritage behind them. And of course, we’ll indulge in the flavours of the city: kachoris at sunrise, malaiyo crowned with saffron, thandai that warms rather than chills, and meals that are celebrations, not just food.
Banaras isn’t just a destination—it’s a mood, a rhythm, a reminder of slowing down.
And winter is the best time to listen.
