The proposed topic of our 2nd (and last) added summer session begins right now as you read these words ๐ Our meetup will namely consist of an opportunity and invitation to share (whoever would like to!) any personal insight(s) we may recently have had - or will have had between now and when our session begins ๐ - concerning any aspect about the world or about our lives ๐ค
Whatever insight(s) you choose to share needs not itself to be, technically speaking, strictly philosophical, but can also arise from worldly (including self-) observation and reflection.
It can be interesting to consider the idea - as a paradigm, not as an axiom - that knowledge can be conceptualized as typically being about the world ("world" in the most broad sense comprising everything we experience - and in many situations interact with - during our lives), and philosophy being about the meanings and value of our knowledge (such as, "What meaning does this knowledge that I have carry?" or "How does this knowledge impact my values or the value of my life?").
Insights shared at our meetup may thus fall into either category of "knowledge insight" or "philosophical insight". In both cases, we will reflect together on the shared insights and consider if there might be some even further philosophical "wisdom" or life lessons that we could draw out of them...
Note: Instead of our proposing various topics then voting on just one topic to discuss, this "insight sharing" format will more likely (if there are enough insights to be shared) enable us to cover a greater diversity of themes in one session. Thus, all proposed topics can be covered (at least for a few minutes, even if not for our usual 3 hours) - all you have to do is to share with us one of your insights (or one new thing learned) regarding the topic you propose ๐๐
We might become surprised, furthermore, that by keeping track everyday, just how often we do learn new things (even if seemingly trivial or seemingly not very relevant to our particular individual lives) - and if we would consciously take a moment to further reflect on every new thing that we learn, to what surprising extent we may well uncover some "broader truths" that each one carries.
Wishing us all inspiration (and of course enjoyment!) and at our meetup we can talk about whatever we will have experienced from doing this exercise! ๐ชโ๏ธ๐ก
