Buddhist Meditation and Study Group

Details
The Tuesday meeting will be focused mostly on the practice itself, rather than on Buddhist philosophy, and will include the opportunity to share with others the difficulties and challenges encountered in the process of spiritual growth.
Also, I wanted to mention that while this group, per our statement, will not be “focused” on Buddhist Philosophy, it is pertinent to say that we will be discussing the application of Buddhist philosophy as in the Dharma. And, we will hope that folks have found an interest enough in this to have read texts or articles on their own and put what they understand into their own practice. This will surely give the meeting an interesting basis for discussion, rather than just listening to one person giving a Dharma talk. Steve

** Donna Hobbs will return on October 29, 2013 to present her Zen class per Thich Nhat Hanh.
15 min. meditation before and after the Dharma talk and group discussion: 6:00-7:15
Meditation instructions: Sit up straight, put your hands comfortably in your lap or on your knees, and focus your mind on your in and out breath. If you wish, count each in/out combination up to 10 and then start over. Any variation that keeps your attention in the present will do. When you realize you are thinking about something, let the thought go and return to the present.
