Abstract:
With Star Party season upon us, Judy would like to give you some pointers, especially if you’ve never attended before! She’s going to help you get ready for your first star party (or second or millionth) with this geared IN and geared UP talk about her many fun experiences. You’ll know exactly what you need going into yours.
Judy Sterner’s introduction to the world of amateur astronomy was at the Calgary Centre’s 2008 Alberta Star Party at Starland Campground on the Red Deer River. Since that time, she has attended a variety of star parties, from single evenings close to home or farther afield for up to eight nights. In this presentation she will look at the history of the ASP, the Centre’s Star-B-Q, and introduce our new gathering in May of this year. She will also take us on a tour of star parties she has attended in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Oregon, New Mexico and California.
