
What we’re about
Hello! The Calm Raft provides a unique weekly class that is accessible to everyone who wants to take 90 minutes out from the stresses of life, to connect with others, have fun exploring fun new ways to look after their mental wellbeing and treat themselves to deep relaxation.
CONNECT
A priority for us is to meet with like-minded people who are committed to their own calm and well-being. We are a small friendly group with the same goals and as such are very respectful of the fact that everyone is different but that our need for meaningful connection and calm is important to all of us.
CURIOSITY
Each week we will sit in small groups (2s or 3s) and use a short paragraph from one of the world's wellbeing experts as a starting point for a group discussion based on how we can make our lives easier and calmer! There will be plenty to talk about but it is also okay to sit back and listen. There are also mindful creative activities available if you prefer to do something calm on your own or you just want to have a go while chatting. Laughing, being authentic and being kind are all encouraged!
CALM
We finish each session with a cosy and relaxing meditation. Don't worry if you have never tried meditation - you will be talked through how to use your breath and the music to become calm and cosy. The meditation is about 10 minutes long and will leave you feeling very relaxed and ready to face the week!
Everyone is welcome at the Calm Raft - whether you already prioritise calm or if this is all new to you. The key thing is you will have fun and you will be very relaxed by the end of each session! I encourage you to come along and if you are coming alone, will make sure you met at the door and you feel comfortable coming into your first session.
We meet every other Monday at the Cwtch Hub on Union Street, Newton Abbot TQ12 2JX from 7pm till 8.30pm.
