Eric Gieseke: Application of Semantic Web Technologies in the development of a Comparison Shopping Engine
Development of a Comparison Shopping Engine applying
Semantic Web technologies. The goal of this project was to create a
more efficient comparison shopping engine for products and services.
Use of a semantic product database results in increased breadth and
depth of product search. The project leverages the GoodRelations
eCommerce ontology, Sesame, Alibaba, SPARQL, and a UI that
dynamically modifies its available search criteria based on the
properties of the products within context. The project provides an
example of the potential for the Semantic Web to help expand and
create level markets across the world.
