eagle-i: a national network of biomedical research resources
Daniela Bourges-Waldegg, PhD, Harvard Medical School
The eagle-i consortium ( www.eagle-i.org (http://www.eagle-i.org/)) is building a national network and infrastructure for sharing biomedical research resources, such as reagents, model organisms and instruments. Eagle-i is a federated system: an eagle-i server at each participating institution houses a data repository and provides data ingest tools, and a central search application queries the institutional servers through a federated query network to provide combined search results. Eagle-i data, which is in essence metadata about the physical biomedical resources, is captured and stored as RDF, and follows linked data principles. The eagle-i ontology drives the different software components.
In this talk I'll discuss salient points of the eage-i architecture and its usage of semantic web technologies, and demonstrate the beta data ingest and search applications."
