About us
The Johannesburg Book Club – Cape Town Chapter is a monthly, in-person reading and discussion group focused on African literature, including fiction and non-fiction.
Our reading list centres African and Pan-African voices across novels, essays, memoirs, history, culture, and social commentary. The aim is thoughtful, respectful conversation based on a shared reading.
We meet on the first Saturday of every month at 13:30 to discuss a selected book. Members are expected to read the book and participate in an open, conversational discussion.
This group is part of the broader Johannesburg Book Club community, established in 2017. The Cape Town chapter is growing organically and intentionally.
Meetups take place in relaxed public venues such as cafés or gardens. There is no membership fee or fixed cost. Attendees order what they prefer on the day.
