Book: The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives by Lola Shoneyin

This is the February meeting of The Johannesburg Book Club – Cape Town Chapter.

We meet on the first Saturday of the month for an in-person discussion focused on African literature (fiction and non-fiction). This session will centre on The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, a novel exploring marriage, gender, power, and silence within a Nigerian household.

What to expect:
– A relaxed, respectful group discussion
– Thoughtful engagement based on the shared reading
– No lectures or formal facilitation

What to bring:
– Your book (soft copy or hard copy)
- Having read the book
– Openness to listen and contribute

Logistics:
– There is no attendance fee
– Everyone orders what they prefer on the day
– We will meet at Company’s Garden Restaurant in Cape Town CBD
– The session is scheduled for 2 hours, with flexibility to stay longer informally
