RESCHEDULED: Leisurely Hike and Winery afterwards
Details
Hello all! I am a new organizer and frequent attender of Chapter Two dinners. With Steve’s blessing, I am planning some non-dinner events to provide even more fun opportunities for social interaction!
Please join us for a hike along the C&O Canal, starting at Riley’s Lock, then hang out at nearby Windridge Winery afterwards.
Details:
Hike: I will lead an out-and-back hike along the C&O Canal starting at Riley’s Lock. This will be a relaxed (approx. 2 mph) pace, from 11 am-1 pm. The approximate distance will be about 4-5 miles. It is a completely flat, dirt trail with the canal on one side and the Potomac River on the other. Please park in the first parking lot on the left on Riley’s Lock Rd (it is a large, paved lot) and we will meet there. I have a silver Honda CRV with MD plates. There should be porta-potties in the lot.
Note that this parking lot is across from the Seneca Landing Boat Ramp. You can also enter the address 13108 Rileys Lock Rd., Poolesvlle, MD. (If you go all the way to the end of Rileys Lock Rd and see the lock house pictured above, you’ve gone too far). I recommend you bring water, bug spray, and sunscreen for the hike but I will have extra if anyone needs any of these items. Hopefully we will see some herons, turtles, or beavers along the trail!
Winery: Afterwards, we will head over to Windridge Winery (about a 15-minute drive from Riley’s Lock) for a picnic and wine. You can bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages to the winery (just no outside alcohol, chairs or kids allowed). Dogs ARE allowed at this winery.
The winery has a kitchen and there will be a coffee/pastry food truck for purchase. I have a table reserved for 16.
Winery address: 15700 Darnestown Rd.,
Darnestown, MD

Look forward to seeing you all this weekend!
