#### Our forests are our greatest natural resource. They support biodiversity, remove carbon from the atmosphere and provide natural protection from more severe flooding and drought. Southern forests are at risk from the wood pellet industry, which has grown rapidly in the US South over the past decade. The industry logs forests, turns them into wood pellets, and ships them overseas to be burned for electricity in Europe and Asia. The production of wood pellets is polluting low-income communities of color in the US South, and putting more carbon into the atmosphere than coal. Yet the industry touts itself as clean and green energy.
