Manufactured Wire Reef Fabrication Workshop for Oyster Reef Restoration
Details
Let's help the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and the Casual Crabbing Crew with their oyster restoration efforts! Learn about the importance of oysters in our ecosystem and help build the manufactured wire reef cages that will be filled with recycled oysters and used in future oyster restoration projects.
All of the tools and supplies will be provided by the South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement (SCORE) Program. Power tools will be used to shape the wire into oyster cage (no experience necessary). These cages will later be deployed into our tidal marshes to support new wild oyster growth and protect our shorelines.
Please bring water and closed-toed shoes.
Meet in the SCDNR Facilities parking lot at the end of 217 Fort Johnson Road by the oyster shell recycling drop off.
Please RSVP and sign the waiver here: https://act.sierraclub.org/events/details?formcampaignid=701Po00000oWW0AIAW
