South Carolina’s coast is rich with protected lands—from the Francis Marion National Forest that offers abundant recreational opportunities to wildlife refuges that protect critical habitat for some of the state’s most vulnerable species. Through advocacy and hands-on education, Friends of Coastal South Carolina uplifts the missions of our partners while fostering a strong stewardship ethic among South Carolinians.
Sarah Clarke is a North Carolina native who developed her love of nature growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She is a graduate of Elon University and, since her move to the Lowcountry, has had the pleasure of introducing South Carolina students to their native public lands and ecosystems.
Friends of Coastal South Carolina is dedicated to preserving the ecosystems and wildlife of the South Carolina coast. They support our coastal national wildlife refuges and forest by encouraging the next generation of scientists and conservationists through environmental education. Friends of Coastal South Carolina is the only organization solely dedicated to advocating for these lands and the wildlife that depend on them.
