About us
## About This Group: The Check-In
Real Support. In Person. For Everything.
Life as a young adult is rarely a straight line. Whether you are navigating the heavy weight of depression, processing past trauma, or struggling with the daily grind of anxiety, you shouldn’t have to carry it alone.
The Check-In is a dedicated in-person support group for young adults (20s & 30s) who are tired of "online-only" connections. We believe that looking someone in the eye and sharing a physical space is the most powerful way to heal and grow.
### Why We Meet In Person
Screen fatigue is real, and mental health support shouldn't feel like another Zoom meeting. We prioritize in-person support only because:
- True Presence: You can’t "minimize" a person in the room. We show up for each other fully.
- Shared Energy: There is a level of empathy and understanding that only happens when you’re physically present.
- Offline Sanctuary: This is a phone-free, digital-free hour to focus entirely on your well-being.
### What We Talk About
We don’t shy away from the hard stuff. This is a judgment-free zone to discuss:
- Depression & Low Energy: Finding the motivation to keep going.
- Trauma & Healing: Navigating the long-term effects of past experiences.
- Anxiety & Stress: Dealing with the pressure of careers, relationships, and the future.
- Loneliness: Building a community of people who actually "get it."
### The Format
- Safe Sharing: Everyone gets a chance to speak (or just listen if it’s a heavy day).
- Peer Support: We share lived experiences and coping strategies that have worked for us.
- Confidentiality: What is said in the circle stays in the circle. Period.
### A Note on Safety
We are a peer-led community, not a clinical therapy group or a crisis center. We are here to walk alongside you in your journey, but we encourage everyone to maintain their professional care alongside this group.
