Sunday chess at Boba Drive

Our new Sunday meetup spot is at Boba Drive, a cozy café in Sunnyvale with great drinks, plenty of seating, and a chill vibe perfect for chess.

Time: We start coming in from 4:00 PM onwards, and usually stay until the shop closes. Players gather in small groups inside. Feel free to bring a board if you can, or just show up and jump in.

Q: Is this part of the same Meetup as the Saturday group?
Yes! This is a new sister event to our long-running Saturday Starbucks meetup. Same welcoming vibe, new day and location.

Q: What if I don’t see anyone right away?
People come and go casually throughout the evening. Grab a seat, maybe order a drink, and look around—chances are someone’s already playing or setting up.

Q: Do I need to bring a board?
It helps, but it’s not required. Many players bring boards and are happy to share. If you’ve got one, bring it. If not, come anyway.

Q: Who’s organizing this?
This is a joint effort between the The Chess Players and Boba Drive. The new gathering is a way to make more space for our growing community.

Q: What’s the vibe?
Welcoming, low-key, and social. All ages and skill levels are encouraged. Play a few games, make a friend, sip some boba, and enjoy your Sunday.
