The Golden Rule is that there are no golden rules.

In his Revolutionist’s Handbook, John Tanner never lets a rule stand. He dismisses democracy as the election of the incompetent many in place of the appointment of the corrupt few. He warns us never to do unto others as we would have them do unto us, for, their tastes may differ. He observes that marriage is only popular because it enables temptation- and opportunity-maxxing.

As he sees it, institutions, creeds, and customs fail, and for the same reason: they ask nothing of those who uphold them, and that they only ever depend on unreasonable people who refuse to adapt to the world around them.
