What we’re about

The Chichester Walking and Social Group is now in its 15th. year and since its inception has grown, with average attendance of 20 - 30 per walk. Members are mostly from West Sussex and Hampshire but are welcomed from any area.

We enjoy a variety of activities now, but our focus remains on walking and exploring our beautiful part of England. We shall continue to enjoy the occasional music or curry evening, skittles and of course, a Christmas get together and meal. We also have walking weekends away in areas such as The Cotswolds, Peak District and the Brecon Beacons
Walks are varied, being centred on the South Downs or along the coastal strip. Lengths of walks vary from 5 to 10 miles and usually finish with a pub lunch for those who want one. We try to make our outings unique – they are researched by the organisers rather than being taken from a book. Members are also encouraged to make suggestions and to lead if they are happy to do so.
We aim to post walks for most Sundays and members are welcome to come as often as they wish, tell your friends or bring them along as guests, they would always be made welcome. We are also a dog friendly group, so bring your dog but please keep on lead at all times.
The fee of £2 per person per event covers the Meetup charges and any other expenses involved with running the group and any left over will be put towards a social event. A credit card machine is available for payments where signals allow !

Please continue to come and enjoy the walks and events and let's make 2025 another successful year for Chichester Walking and Social Group.

From our group's official pet in residence :)
Walking boots ready, drink and snack.
Sunday mornings walk to attack.
Meeting place set and members all gather.
Two feet, four feet, one in front of the other.
Through fields of green and views of gold, the Chichester walkers are a group to behold.
Chatting and laughing, behind hedges and trees.
What must people think? Probably those people with knobbly knees.
6 or 7 miles, sometimes even more.
a welcome rest in the middle for a drink stop I’m sure.
Up hill and down dale to our journeys end. Then a drink in the pub. Next week? - see you then!!
