We can get into the gym by 5:45pm to warm up, and we'll start to play around 6:15. We have to take down the net at 8:45 and be completely out by 9pm.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (C+/B to BB) is further explained. This is not for beginners. This level means at the very least you can do the following:

- pass pretty well (at least 6/10 of your passes go to the intended target)

- understand how to play a 5-1 rotation and where to be on the court both offensively and defensively (or are eager to learn and study rotations/positions on your own)

- can serve and hit with good success (don't have to be a power server/hitter)

- stay out of the setter's way unless they call for help

- call yourself on doubles, lifts, touching the net, etc., and know the basic rules of the game

- aren't a danger to your fellow players (esp with net play, not going under the net or having foot cross the line)

We try to run a 5-1 rotation if we have enough players, but we've been short on setters lately, so we'll play setter is the middle front row player (everyone gets a chance to set). If you aren't sure what level you are, the host can help you figure that out. If you're a good player but maybe not quite at this level, you can still sign up 48 hours before this event (starting Tuesday at 6pm). You'll likely be on the waitlist, but you'll probably get on.

This event is limited to 13 players. If you RSVP'd but can't make it, please move yourself to the "not going" list as soon as you know. Life happens, so if you no-show once without moving yourself to the "not going" list, we'll understand. If you no-show twice, you won't be able to sign up again for this event. Tap "edit RSVP" to change your status. If you're on the waitlist: We've had people drop the day before and the day of, so please know that you might make the going list even if you're far down on the waitlist. Meetup should alert you, but definitely check back often.

Quick reminder: All participants must have a current CRC membership pass to play. You can join at any CRC front desk at any time for $25 (annual pass).

BB+ (High)

Players at this level generally have at least a few years of playing experience on organized teams or played in some weekend tournaments. Players will be expected to have good fundamental skills in place and demonstrate them with some degree of consistency, and to not pose any safety concerns to others.

• passing is directed to a setter but not always accurately
• sets will be to the intended hitter but not necessarily to the hitters’ desired target
• hits are generally in
• overhand serves, serves will be consistent and servers should be able to target a specific quadrant of the court
• stay in designated positions during the entire course of a play
• hitters and blockers understand approach mechanics and are not landing hazards
• be a good sport and be respectful to each other

Please answer the signup question truthfully to help everyone (including yourself) enjoy a fun night of volleyball! You can bring your own team (but must send a note to the host first). Capping the event at 12 players for now, and hosts will decide what format to follow depending on how many are on the waitlist. So waitlist yourself even it appears full.

Format:
12 signups: 6 vs 6 (no libero)
13-14 signups: 6+L vs 6(+L)
15-18 signups: 3 team format (each set goes to 21 straight)

Hosts may move people from ‘waitlist’ to ‘going’ based on the positions needed on a first come first serve basis. Hosts may also move people from ‘going’ to ‘not going’ based on your vibe or actual play level. The number of attendees and format will be final at 3pm on the day of the event.

If you are new to the area or our group, welcome! For first timers, just get yourself on the waitlist even if full and I’ll get you in! We love meeting new people and have a great time!

Gym is open!

Please read : Co-Ed indoor volleyball open to HIGH INTERMEDIATE levels of play. HIGH INTERMEDIATE level means that you play volleyball where you are not only not a liability on the court in your given position, but that you have a sense of what you bring to the table and can work to optimize that and cover for your deficiencies.

• Passing: a fundamental element of volleyball. You must pass at least pretty well (about 7/10 of your passes go to the intended target)
• Serving: almost all of your serves go in OR you have a strong serve that you miss more often but can control the other team’s passing
• Net Play: you must be a safe opponent to play against as a hitter/blocker. Almost never crashing into or under the net. Have an understanding of where to be and how to take an approach. You do not have to be a power hitter (especially women having to hit on a men’s height net), but it should look like you understand how to hit/block, or where to bail. Obviously, if you are a setter or an opposite, these rules are relaxed significantly.
• Positioning: understand how to play a 5-1/6-2 rotation and where to be on the court (or have the other listed abilities and can learn quickly). You must stay out of the setter's way unless they call for help, or if you cannot get out of the way (this can happen occasionally), you early and loudly call the ball.

If you are not sure what level you are, one of our hosts can assist. Reach out to us or if you think you are close, come play and we will provide feedback at the end of the night. If you are a low / middle intermediate player, you may sign up for the event 48 hours before it starts, likely joining the wait list.

The next time you sign up for this event, you may get bumped to the back of the waitlist. If you no-show/don't remove your name a second time, you may not be able to sign up for this event again. If you're on the waitlist but know you won't be able to make it if you get bumped to the "going list", please remove yourself so the next person has a chance to join. Thank you!
