Details
Please read James by Percival Everett for June's meeting. Described as a brilliant, action-packed reimagining of Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, both harrowing and darkly humorous, told from the enslaved Jim's point of view, the novel has won the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. Everett, pictured above, is a Distinguished Professor of English at USC and writer of several previous award-winning novels. His novel Erasure was adapted into the movie American Fiction. James is reported to be in development for the screen by Steven Spielberg.
We will meet in Seminar Room A at the Mission Valley Public Library. The room is limited to 12 persons. Feel free to bring your own refreshments.
