The Power of the Dog, the novel by Thomas Savage

Details
In 2021 Jane Campion adapted Thomas Savage's 1967 Western novel, The Power of the Dog, for the big screen. Campion received critical acclaim and awards for direction of her wonderful film, plus a bit of pushback from some quarters for its subversive portrayal of the American West. (OK, one esteemed oldtimer actor complained.) Savage's novel was also critically acclaimed in 1967 but sold poorly and was largely forgotten until it was republished in 2001. Let's read the book and draw our own conclusions. Bonus points if you watch or rewatch the movie for comparison in our discussion. It's streaming on Netflix.
We'll meet again at the Mission Valley library in Seminar Room A. the library sets a limit of 12 persons for the room. Feel free to bring your own refreshments.
