Conquer the James Peak Wilderness

Then car pool up to the trailhead, at the magnificent Moffat Tunnel, from which we will ascend to the beautiful Rogers & Heart Lakes via an equally beautiful trail:

This is a longer and more difficult hike than usual, with 2,000ft of elevation gain over 9 miles. The view at the top will be worth it though, and the truly brave may attempt to summit the divide, where they will be presented with views of Winter Park, Berthoud Pass, Mt Evans, etc.

The road should be accessible to most vehicles, but hikers should bring:

• Waterproof boots

• Rain gear

• Adequate water for 6 hours or so
