The Conscious Church is a secular church, striving to build community. We have Distinctions instead of commandments. The first part of our first Distinction is:

Each of us is truly beautiful because we are unique. Because we are unique, we have distinct impacts on this world and those we encounter that only we can have. We are each molded and shaped by our surroundings, by our upbringing, or lack thereof, by the situations and the people that we encounter, by our experiences, by the aspects and content of our education, by our trials and tribulations.

THIS EVENT

The Constitution has survived a civil war, international wars, terrorism, political, economic, social, cultural, and public health crises. What are the safeguards that have kept our country in check? What must we do to restore and protect it?

We started this program on September 19, and did not get through all of the points our speaker wanted to make, as we were having a real, lively discussion. We're taking up where we left off, but new people are welcome.

Our Speaker: Christine Yared is a speaker, writer, attorney, and educator. She penned the award-winning book, Private Love, Public School – Gay Teacher Under Fire, and has actively battled discrimination based on LGBTQ+ identity, gender, race, ethnicity, and against sexual harassment, in the courtroom and community. She is a highly sought-after speaker.

Christine is the past chair of the State Bar of Michigan LGBTQ+ Law Section and has served in leadership roles within various nonprofit and grassroots organizations, helping shape policy and advocacy. As an adjunct professor, she has taught LGBTQ+ Law, Constitutional Law, Gender Studies, Cultural Communication, Sexuality, Justice & Advocacy, Life Journeys, and Civil Rights History.

You can learn more about Christine at ChristineYared.com
