Sunrise Seashell Jewelry Class For Coral Conservation

Details

Learn to make Hawaiis unique and iconic sunrise shell necklaces and earrings. Sunrise shells are a unique type of shell that are only found in Hawaii at depths of 100 feet or more! The practice of making sunrise jewelry has been a part of Hawaiian culture for hundreds of years! Historically, royalty were the only ones who wore them. Now, The Coral Conservancy is using this ancient practice to raise funds and awareness for the protection and rehabilitation of Hawaiis reefs. Hawaii has lost over 50% of its Coral Reefs and we are training the community to replant them and build it back!

You will get to pick out your very own sunrise seashell and be taught by Coral Conservancy staff, as well as our guest North Shore Shells on how to make your very own necklace and/or earrings. Shells will range from $40-65 and we will give you all the supplies needed to professionally wrap them. These necklaces typically sell in stores for over $100! So you are definitely getting a deal! North Shore Shells, will also provide some additional supplies like pearls to customize your necklace and/or earrings. Tools generously donated by Bead-It Hawaii located near Diamond Head.

The Coral Conservancy is a Community Based Coral Restoration Non-Profit which trains and educates community members in Hawaii to conduct coral restoration efforts locally.
