Make Weird Art. Learn Basquiat!
Details
Perfection is overrated. Weird is where the magic happens. Join us for an evening inspired by the raw energy, bold mark-making, and fearless creativity of Jean-Michel Basquiat. In this class, we’ll explore how Basquiat used symbols, words, scribbles, color, and intuition to create artwork that was expressive, personal, and unapologetically unique. Perfect for beginners, experienced artists, and anyone who has ever thought, “I don’t know what to make.” You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art and a few new ways to think about the creative process.
The class is led by JJ Riggs, founder of The Creative Rebellion, a multidisciplinary artist, former Director of Product Design, and educator with more than 20 years of teaching and creative leadership experience. JJ has taught hundreds of students at venues including Workshop SLC, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Eva Carlston Academy, Hills Kitchen, and private corporate workshops. Her classes are known for helping people let go of perfection, build confidence, and discover that creativity is far more accessible than they imagined.
Before class, grab some delicious food and a drink and join us for an evening of creativity, conversation, and making wonderfully weird art.
