About us
We are a collective of end-of-life guides and death educators. Like birth, death can be loud, messy, and unexpected—yet in our culture, we embrace one but not the other. End-of-life guides, also known as death doulas, can help you craft an authentic end-of-life plan that reflects your core values and personality.
Along with guiding people through end-of-life, we are also deeply engaged in our community. Educational workshops are one of our favorite offerings, and we host free gatherings every month to lift the taboo around talking about death. Our Grief Garden Club, Queer Death Network, and Death Café discussion groups are always in the monthly rotation.

Living with Grief - Guided Discussion and Support
South Park Yoga and Wellness, 2985 Beech St, San Diego, CA, USWe invite you to join us for a monthly gathering dedicated to exploring grief in all its complexity - gently, honestly, and in community.
This 90-minute session with Grief Coaches Wendy & Claudia offers a space for grief education, guided sharing, and meaningful connection. Together, we’ll explore a wide range of topics - from understanding the emotional and physical impact of grief, to navigating anxiety, redefining acceptance, building rituals, and even making space for hope, gratitude, and moments of joy along the way.
Grief is not linear, and neither are these conversations. Each gathering stands on its own while contributing to a larger, evolving understanding of what it means to live well while carrying loss, and how we can better care for ourselves and each other in the process.
Hosted by Grief Counselor Wendy Kessler and Grief Coach Claudia Faerber. All are welcome, wherever you are in your grief.
- RSVP is requested so we can prepare the space with intention.
- Not a Meet Up member? $10 Venmo @thedeathnetwork

Creative Writing for Grief
Sweetwater Zen Center, 2727 Highland Ave., National City, CA, USGrief touches every part of us, yet no two experiences of it are the same. Like a fingerprint, it is entirely our own. Finding ways to move with grief, rather than against it, often means exploring what helps us express, process, and integrate loss into our lives.
Join us for an intimate and interactive workshop with author Laing Rikkers, whose own grief journey began with the death of her sister. In the aftermath, she found an unexpected companion in creative writing, eventually leading to her book Morning Leaves. Through her story, Laing will share how poetry and time in nature became a pathway for navigating life after loss, offering moments of clarity, connection, and even beauty.
Together, we’ll explore how creativity can serve as a gentle outlet for grief. This experience includes guided discussion, quiet time in nature to reflect and notice what arises, and an opportunity to engage in your own writing or creative expression. We’ll close by gathering in community to share reflections on the experience of slowing down, turning inward, and tapping into creativity as a tool for grief. Sharing is always optional.
We’ll provide blank notebooks, pens, and markers, or you’re welcome to bring your own journal.
This is not about doing it “right.” It’s about discovering what feels true for you.
We hope to see you soon! @thedeathnetwork @morning_leaves_and_poetry22 attendees
