What we’re about
“Deconstruction” has been a popular buzzword in the Christian Church over the last several years that acts as a catch all for the process of carefully evaluating the merits of the stories, traditions, cultures, and actions of the faith communities that have formed us.
This group is for anyone who is embracing that analysis for themselves, no matter where along the journey they are.
If you’re familiar with and enjoy/benefit from the work of The Liturgists, Rob Bell, Richard Rohr, The Holy Post podcast, Brian Zahnd, Heretic Happy Hour or similar types of content, this group is for you.
If you take issue with the mainstream idea many have that Christians are against science, gender equality, racial equality, environmental responsibility, and other issues of our time, this group is for you.
If you ever find yourself wanting to say something along the lines of “I’m a Christian, but not THAT kind of Christian!”, this group is for you.
If you’ve experienced mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical trauma at the hands of the Church in some way, this group is for you.
Regardless which denomination you’re from, whether or not you currently identify as a believer, how many doubts you have, or what specifically those doubts are about, this group is for you.
The only agenda we’ll admit to is the idea that, despite its many problematic facets, there is still something about our faith that we want to preserve. To not throw the Baby Jesus out with the bath water, if I may…
This is where the “Reconstruction” part of our name comes in. Because deconstruction without reconstruction is just a demolition.
Not real sure what the exact types of events are that we’ll do yet, but at the very least we will create space for people to share and learn from each other and ultimately, hopefully, help each other grow our faith into something new.
