Discussion Night: Relationships with Allistic Family

Tonight we will discuss our relationships with allistic family members. The central question of our discussion will be this: What is your relationship with allistic family members like, specifically in light of your autism? We might explore several regions of the territory delineated by this question. For instance, we might discuss the following:

-For late-identified autistics, how has your family responded to the revelation that you are autistic? Do they believe you? Do they act differently around you now? Do you act differently around them now?

-For early-diagnosed autistics, how does your relationship with allistic family members differ from their relationships with each other? How has the fact of your autism influenced your family relationships throughout your life?

-To what extent does your understanding of your autism differ from that of your relatives, and how?

This event is at the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor. (The Delian Club is not, however, a religious organization.) Please come in through the doors on William Street, the ones which directly face the opposing side of the street. They are halfway down the church, and they have to the right of them a small light that flashes red and green. Go up the ramp and turn to the right; we are in the Mayflower Room, which is next to the kitchenette.

As with all Delian Club events, this is for autistic adults only.
