🌳Baslow to Chatsworth 8 miles Bank Holiday Walk🌸Riverside and🌸Woodland🌳

Details
We start our beautiful Spring walk from Baslow with a gentle walk onto the Chatsworth Estate.
Our route continues to the Village of Beeley, it was originally an estate village inhabited by employees of the the Duke of Devonshire. It lies at the foot of a moor with panoramic views over the River Derwent, Lindop Wood and Stanton Moor.
There's St Anne's Church which has a Norman doorway dated around 1160 and a 14th Century tower with battlements and pinnacles.
Opposite the 17th Century Hall are remains of stocks.
Notice the houses and cottages all with 'dolphin blue' paintwork to signify they belong to Chatsworth.
Our route heads away from Beeley village entering woodlands through a mixture of conifers. The path crosses stepping stones along Beeley Brook.
The path emerges onto a track looking across with far reaching views as we walk along it.
Eventually, the path enters Stand Wood, the tranquil Emperor Lake comes into view.
Leaving the woods by the Hunting Tower, the path descends along twisted woody roots shaded by old trees (or take the safer steps) and emerges by Chatsworth House.
After a break, we head back to Baslow along the path we set off on.
A pleasant undulating walk with beautiful views and woodland
Toilet facilities at Baslow car park and Chatsworth House
Walking boots are advised, as always, check the weather and dress accordingly
Bring a packed lunch snacks and plenty of water
As always plenty of breaks and catching up stops
Looking forward to sharing another adventure with you all...
