What will artificial intelligence NOT change? - Experimental Discussion

Details

I don’t know how you feel about the rapid development of AI, but I find it deeply disorienting.

It seems obvious that this technology is on the brink of radically changing our everyday lives. At the same time, some voices argue that there is far too much hype and panic surrounding it.

And even if we come to the conclusion that nothing fundamental will change for now, will AI development ever slow down again — or are we, from now on, bound to live with the alarming feeling that huge changes are just around the corner

In our next discussion, I’d like us to approach this question from a different angle and find some direction by asking: What will probably not change for now? Are there things we can count on – things that might offer us solid ground in the future, no matter how AI develops?
As always, we’ll use experimental methods to structure our discussion (you can read more about that below and in the FAQs).

There will be two discussions, which will be independent of each other. You can join either one or both.

This event is part of the event series “The Discussion Experiment”. It serves to test and develop new, more fruitful and fun methods for group discussions.

Participation is free and you don’t need to prepare anything.

❓FAQ❓

What is an experimental discussion?
The discussion experiment is a method for discussing complex and controversial topics in groups in a way that creates more clarity, reduces misunderstandings and makes conversations more interesting. You can find out more on the homepage (please find the link in the event description above)

What can I expect from the event?
It is difficult to predict how the event will play out or feel. Each event is a test and can turn out enjoyable or disappointing. In any case, it’s always worth sticking around after the moderated part - our participants are lovely, and it’s a great additional opportunity to exchange ideas.

Is this like a debate club?
No, this format is not about competing against each other or about convincing people through rhetorical skill. Rather, it’s about finding common ground despite different opinions and exploring various aspects of a topic together.

How much time do I need to take part?
Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel free to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation.

Do I have to actively participate in the discussion, or can I just listen?
It is perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how actively you want to participate and will not be asked to speak. We only may have a short round at the beginning of the conversation where all participants say their name.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms!
