Neurodivergent, apparently: labels, norms, and the many ways of being

Details
This talk offers a practical overview of the concept of neurodivergence, focusing mainly on autism and ADHD. We'll explore where the term comes from, how it's used, and the tensions it generates—especially around definitions: condition, disorder, illness? We’ll also touch on published findings in functional neuroanatomy, and look at some of the everyday difficulties faced by people who fall under these labels. The aim isn’t to take a position or offer final answers, but to lay out the landscape clearly, raise questions, and reflect on how we understand and relate to different ways of thinking and being.
This session will be led by Alexis García, a neurologist.
