About us

An eclectic forum and fellowship for the theologically adventurous, the Divinity Club meets to reflect on topics germane to divinity, classical theism, mystical theology, and contemplative spirituality. We aim to build a welcoming, ecumenical, and dynamic space for contemplation and comradery in matters pertaining to the mysteries of faith & theology, mind & life - with depth of heart and liberality of intellect, and with a gaze fixed beyond the narrow trappings of religious fundamentalism and secular monoculture alike.

The Divinity Club encourages an interfaith sensibility, extending a general welcome to a variety of perspectives rooted in classical theism, whether Christian, Jewish, Islamic or Gnostic, Vedanta & Hindu Dharma, Platonism & theurgy, Hermeticism, esoteric Buddhism, theosophy, etc. Importantly, this is not in the interest of ignoring genuine disagreement (which would be a boring and sterile result), but rather in order to hold our differences in a generous tension, learn from them, and to find joy in common ground, revering each person in their essential relation to God.

In time we hope the Divinity Club may come to facilitate a variety of forums and events which appeal to the different interests of those involved, generally and specifically, ultimately serving as a local network of friends and associations united by common interests in theology, spirituality and religion.

With guidance from the world's great luminaries, theologians, sages, philosophers, saints, and mystics, our discussions & events may delve into, or draw from, a range of related topics: philosophical & mystical theology; contemplation, religious experience & spiritual formation; the sacred & sacramental; esoterica & metaphysics; history, culture, scripture & revelation; science, natural philosophy, consciousness & the soul, mind & life.

So join us in a spirit of friendship and community, and through wholesome dialogue and fellowship may we support one another on the spiritual path, while advancing toward ever more credible and profound understandings of life and Divinity. Bring your insights, your big questions and, not least, your sense of adventure!
