Books & Coffee: Immortality through legacy
Details
Join us in Paris for an evening of thoughtful conversation over coffee as we explore how people strive to leave a legacy and achieve a kind of immortality.
Through their actions, stories, art, and memories, human beings have been pushing against the idea that one day, they shall be gone and forgotten. Here we will reflect on the desire and the ways humans strive to be remembered, to leave something of themselves, the marks they leave on the world, and how literature captures these timeless desires.
This is a themed book club with no required reading, but if you’d like inspiration, here are some classic works that touch on these themes:
- The Picture of Dorian Gray
- One Hundred Years of Solitude
- The Brothers Karamazov
- The Death of Ivan Ilyich
- The Odyssey
- Immortality by Milan Kundera
(And there are many more that explore the theme!)
Bring your favorite quotes, reflections, or books that resonate with this theme. Let’s share stories, ideas, and experiences in a warm, inspiring space for book lovers and dreamers.
P.S. I’ll reach out before the event to confirm attendance. Please cancel in advance if plans change so I can adjust the reservation accordingly. Merci~ 🌹
