What we’re about
Welcome to The Drunken Historians Society!
Do you love history, biographies, and raising a glass to the past? Then this is the perfect book club for you. We’re a group of history enthusiasts in Phoenix who dive into the lives of historical figures, explore pivotal moments in history, and enjoy lively discussions over drinks.
Each month, we choose a biography or history book to read. Whether it's about a famous leader, an unsung hero, or a fascinating event, we meet up in a relaxed setting—usually at a local bar or pub—to discuss the book, share insights, and enjoy drinks.
What to expect:
Thought-provoking discussions on history, culture, and the lives of intriguing figures.
A fun, friendly atmosphere where history lovers of all backgrounds can connect.
Great company, good drinks, and a new book every month!
Who should join: Anyone who loves a good story, historical or biographical books, and engaging conversation with a drink in hand. Whether you’re a casual reader or a history buff, everyone’s welcome.
Join The Drunken Historians Society, and let’s make history while enjoying our favorite beverages!

December Meetup - Voting in Progress
State 48 Lager House , 15600 N.Hayden Rd., Scottsdale , AZ, USHello Drunken Scribes,
Autumn is flying by, and now we’re getting ready for our next meetup.
We’ll be rolling out the survey to vote on December’s book next weekend, so now is the time to toss your favorites into the ring. You have until Sunday to add new titles to our master list, and they must follow our group rules: essentially primary sources and historical works — nothing modern.
If you have a book you’re dying to read with the group, please add it to our list here:
👉 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12uBRfJJYfNenUJiIYr9EyH0dDxjTC-s40W2mT5l0NwQ/edit?gid=0#gid=0Please add your suggestions by Saturday night at the latest—after that, we lock the list for voting.
🔍 Quick Criteria Reminder:- Good baseline rule for understanding: if it's ~75 years or older it is generally considered historical - usually if you follow this you're good.
- Autobiographies and firsthand accounts are highly encouraged.
- Historical works with well-documented facts or peer-reviewed sources are welcome.
- Include your name next to your suggestion in case we need clarification.
As always, thank you for your contributions—I can’t wait to see what makes it to the December vote!
Cheers,
