Tide pools at Pillar Point
Details
Details:
Come join me in exploring some tide pools! For those unfamiliar, tide pools are rocky pools of seawater that are exposed as the tide recedes. Many creatures inhabit these pools, such as crabs, sea anemones, and starfish. This weekend will be a king tide, so more of the beach will be exposed for exploration! We'll meet at 1:30 pm since low tide will be at 4 pm. This will give us some time to explore as the tide goes out and comes back in. For those interested, we can also grab some dinner in the area after we finish.
Where to meet:
Pillar Point trailhead access parking lot (https://maps.app.goo.gl/HQNe4e3WDNAE3eEU6) . I would recommend parking in the streets just before the West Point Parking lot (https://maps.app.goo.gl/LpZPmmn8PMaMCFk17).
What to bring:
- Shoes, preferably muck or rubber boots. Your feet will get wet, and it makes it easier to access the pools with boots.
- Hat
- Water
- Sunscreen
- Jacket/windbreaker ( it gets cold while tidepooling!)
- GoPro/underwater camera ( if you have one)
