National Museum of Flight
National Museum of Flight, East Lothian, East fortune, GBThe National Museum of Flight is Scotland’s national aviation museum, located at a historic World War II airfield near Edinburgh. Visitors can explore an outstanding collection of aircraft, including Scotland’s only Concorde, military and civil aviation exhibits, interactive galleries, and fascinating stories celebrating the history, science, and adventure of flight.

The best and probably only way to arrive is by car (plenty of parking inside available):
East Fortune Airfield, East Lothian, EH39 5LF Tel: 0300 123 6789
This will be a ticketed venue, you will need to purchase your own ticket, booking is now available online:
https://my.nms.ac.uk/18601/20909
Tickets cost £13 (over 65 £11)
It is a great place, full of history, airplanes and lots of interesting details. I suggest we meet at 13:00 inside the airfield, outside the café.
But there is so much to see (I guess one can easily spend 4 hours exploring), that some of you might want to arrive earlier.
The topic for our outing is ‘geometries of flight’.
There are often volunteers explaining the different exhibits. Some are ex-pilots and real characters with some stories to tell. They would make portraits.
There is also the Conservation Hangar talk at 14:00, very interesting, (but you are not allowed to walk through this hangar). It is free but you need to book it, when you book your ticket.
At 14:30 we meet at the museum’s café for a drink and chat. I think they have soups and sandwiches, but no fish and chips.9 attendees
