Owl Encounters – A Day at the Scottish Owl Centre

Join us for a visit to the Scottish Owl Centre in Polkemmet Country Park!

We will meet at the entrance to the Owl Centre at 11am so we can catch the Meet the Birds talk at 11.30 and spend some time photographing the owls in their aviaries. These thoughtfully designed spaces house over 140 owls from 50 species around the world, providing excellent opportunities for close-up shots.

There will also be two indoor flying displays at 1.30 and one later in the afternoon, offering great chances to practise capturing birds in flight.

Afterwards, we’ll head to the Country Café nearby for a well-earned cuppa before making our way home.

Your ticket gives full-day access, so you can also enjoy the park’s other activities.

The Scottish Owl Centre is about 30 minutes from Edinburgh or Glasgow by car. Leave the M8 at Junction 4A and follow the brown signs to the centre (postcode EH47 0AD). Local bus routes through Whitburn and Harthill also stop near the park entrance.

If you are looking for a lift from the city, feel free to leave a comment — some members may have space to offer.

Entry is £11.50 for adults, and there is no need to book in advance. Holding an owl for a photo is £5.
