An aerial theme this week! Firstly join us for a visit to the Alfred Buckham exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Queen Street (free entry).
A trailblazer in his field, Alfred Buckham soared above the realms of what was thought to be possible in 20th century photography and aviation. Meet the man behind some of the most iconic aerial photographs, marvel at the death-defying lengths he took to capture the perfect image and explore how his innovative techniques paved the way for modern technologies such as Photoshop and AI. Composite photographs were not invented by digital photography!
Afterwards take your own aerial photographs! No plane necessary. Just aim your camera down, whether it be interesting pavement details, the feet of passers by, shots from the upper floors of the St James Quarter or Omni Centre (be discreet!), or if wet (or cold) just stay in the Portrait Gallery and take shots from the first floor or in the staircase areas!
Meet in the foyer at 1pm. We’ll meet afterwards in The Conan Doyle pub, York Place from about 2.15pm.
