11 June 2026. We meet in North Berwick harbour at 11:30.
You can arrive by train (Waverley - North Berwick direct) . If you drive allow a bit of extra time for finding a parking lot, especially as N.B. introduces a new parking scheme with short-stay only on most roads.
A one-hour catamaran boat trip around Craigleith and the Bass Rock. This stable 55 passenger vessel was custom built in 2012 to provide a family-friendly Bass Rock boat experience. This trip takes you around Craigleith, with its almost 10,000 breeding Puffins, before heading across to see the world’s largest Northern Gannet colony on the world-famous Bass Rock. The boat can get very close to the Bass Rock Gannets so you will get amazing views of these stunning seabirds. Keep a look out for Seals too (and even Dolphins - we are seeing more of these amazing mammals who sometimes race along beside the boat on our trips).

Currently, lots of seats are available. Could I ask each participant to book their own ticket (£32 per person) at given link (there are a few places left as of 13/5). Please don't leave it too late to avoid disappointment, as the boats tend to fill up one or two months early in summer. Please also confirm your participation below, to give me an idea of numbers.
It can be cold and wettish on the boat, please take protective cloth; suncream, sunglasses and sunhat are also recommended. I will try to inform our participants 2 days before about the expected weather.

On return we will have a bit of time to explore the harbour, before we meet at 2:30 at the Ship Inn. I will book a table. On their request, I will share the menu with the participants, as the Ship Inn will then stock up accordingly to not run out of the selected food.
