Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture garden located near Wilkieston in West Lothian. It is set in over 120 acrea of parkland, woodland and indoor spaces and is home to 30+ site-specific sculptures as well as hosting seasonal exhibitions and events. The entrance is dominated by Charles Jenck's Cells of Life consisting of eight landforms and a connecting causeway which surround four lakes.
There is no particular theme for the event; photographic opportunites are many and varied and will include the artworks, the landscape, the outdoor pool and anything else that takes your fancy!
Entrance to Jupiter Artland is £11.80 or £10.80 for 65+ and can be booked in advance.
Given the nature of the location and its photographic opportunities I have set a start time for 12 noon and suggest we may need as much as 3 hours or even longer to do it justice, particularly if the food and drink facilities (Cafe Party Bistro or the Silverstreak caravan takeaway) are to be enjoyed. As refreshments are available on site and as the area is so extensive it is probably easier if attendees leave as they please.
The Lothian Country Bus service no. X27 stops right by the entrance and takes about 30 mins from the city centre. Travelling by car is the easiest means of getting there and there is a large carpark. Should anyone need a lift/want to carshare please arrange through the event messaging function.
