To celebrate our city’s 30 years in the UNESCO world Heritage list a photography calendar competition is being run by the council, Historic Environment Scotland and Edinburgh World Heritage.

I thought I’d run a few meet-ups which enable us to take photos we can enter in the competition. If you are not interested in the competition don’t worry though, these are just normal photo walks! There are more details of the competition below.

For this event we will meet at the Scottish Parliament visit a couple of graveyards, a hidden garden and wind our way through some of the old town ending up in a bar for a drink and chips.

Competition details
You can enter three images in total which must come from these twelve categories. They are:

  1. Medieval Old Town
  2. Neo-classical New Town
  3. Gardens and open spaces
  4. Urban planning/street layout
  5. Topography and skyline
  6. Public and commercial monuments
  7. Conservation
  8. Layering of heritage
  9. Architectural detail
  10. Graveyards
  11. Juxtaposition
  12. The Living City

Entries must be submitted by Friday 23rd October and I’ll run some more meet-ups before then covering the categories.
