What we’re about
Welcome to the Santa Barbara Death and Dying group, a welcoming and sacred space dedicated to fostering open conversations about the end of life, embracing grief, and de-stigmatizing death. All are welcome, as death affects us all, and it is never too early to start cultivating a relationship with our mortality. Hosted by Daniel Polk, an end of life doula and grief coach, our group offers a variety of gatherings to support you on this important journey. We regularly host Death Cafes, providing a relaxed and agenda-free setting to discuss death and dying. Additionally, our Death Salons feature informative speakers and presentations on diverse aspects of end-of-life care. We also offer compassionate grief circles and meaningful rituals to honor loss and find connection. Join our community to learn about available resources, share experiences, and find solace in a supportive environment.

Join us for Death Cafe, a welcoming space for open and honest conversations about death, dying, and everything related. In a relaxed and confidential setting, often with tea and treats, we gather to discuss our thoughts, fears, and curiosities about mortality. This is a participant-led discussion group, not a grief support or counseling session. There is no agenda, and all perspectives are welcome. Our aim is to increase awareness of death to help us make the most of our lives.
***Please note that this even requires registration on the Yoga Soup website. Please click the link below to register for the event. Those who are not registered will unfortunately not be admitted***
