About us

The First Draft Writers Circle is a casual, supportive space for people interested in learning screenwriting. Whether you've never written a script before or you're just getting started, this group is for you. We meet regularly to discuss the fundamentals of screenplay structure, character development, dialogue, and all the other elements that go into writing for film and television. No prior experience necessaryβ€”just bring curiosity and a willingness to learn from others doing the same thing.

What makes this group different is that we're here to help each other improve without judgment. We share our work, give constructive feedback, and celebrate each other's progress. You'll get exposure to different screenwriting approaches and techniques, and you'll have people who actually understand what it's like to tackle that first script. We talk about everything from classic story structure to how real professionals approach their work.

If you've ever wanted to write a screenplay but weren't sure where to start, or if you've started but felt stuck, come hang out with us. You don't need to be a film buff or have any special qualifications. Just show up, engage with the group, and we'll figure this out together.
