As if the music weren't enough, we'll have performances by LED hoopers, burlesque dancers and poi performers.

And of course what event is complete without people doing crazy things with FIRE?

Durham is borrowing from New Orlean's rich cultural tradition, but also doing things Cackalacky style. Now, the folks that have put on the big Durham Mardi Gras party for the last couple of years are at it again. They're going to help you get into the mood for the season, and let you know how you can become part of the new Durham Mardi Gras "tradition". Right about now, down in New Orleans and around Durham, the Krewes are getting their floats together, tuning up their bands and stitching together their costumes. Maybe you want a piece of that action. Maybe you'd like to join a Krewe, sew up your own costume this year, or help set up the party. Or maybe you just want to come out and dance your pants off. Either way, we're all good.
