Build a sustainable housebus

The dream - A sustainably focused house bus shared amongst a group of equal share holders. This bus will run on used cooking oil/solar for lights etc and will be used for roadtrips to festivals, ski fields, tramps, surfing, but not excluded to. There would be an online calendar linked between share holders to book in your dates to use the magic bus. And there would be a committee of sorts to set rules and guidelines. I have found buses that would suit our needs priced at about $5000. Of course all the designing and fitting out of the interior would come after that price. But I would like to use as much recycled materials as possible. So hopefully it won’t take too much money, just time collecting. If we get a large number of people interested I would love to use loomio. If you haven’t heard of loomio it is free decision making software developed by some folks in Wellington which makes discussions and voting on subjects super easy. If you miss a meeting, no biggie, you can still have your opinion on matters. I want this to be a group project with everyone involved adding there own ideas. Or not, if you just want to lend a hand or pitch in some cash that is all good. The ideas above are not set in stone, just something to spark some interest

I have flagged so many great opportunities just because of the cost to get there. Free transport mixed with a fun loving sustainably minded bunch of hooligans would be oh so sweet. Not only would it be great for those involved but it would be good to show people that we don’t need fossil fuels.
