About us
Home is the first place. Work is the second. The café you already go to is the third. The fourth is harder to name: a room you enter as one version of yourself and leave as a slightly different one, in the company of someone who was paying attention.
The Fourth Space grew out of Connected, a series of conversation dinners run in San Francisco and Taipei between 2023 and 2024. Those evenings taught us something we did not expect: people do not come for networking or icebreakers. What they value is the rare permission to sit across from someone and have an honest conversation. The First Afternoon gives that idea a proper home.

How the afternoon runs
One — the person you brought. A guided conversation with your partner, family member or friend, using questions you would probably never think to ask them. Childhood, what you each mean by love, the thing you have been avoiding saying.
Two — a stranger. The same depth, with someone else in the room. It is easier than it sounds, and it usually changes how the third session goes.
Three — something spceial, something that changes each time.Who this is for
Come as a pair, with someone whose relationship you genuinely want to grow: a partner, a parent, an adult child, a sibling, a close friend, a colleague you would like to know properly. If you would like to come alone, tell us on the sign-up form and we will pair you with someone.You do not need to be good at talking about feelings. The questions do that work. You need two hours and a willingness to answer with an open mind.
