THIS IS A MEETUP GROUP FOR THOSE THAT LOVE THEIR COMPANION BIRDS!
Welcome to the Georgia Companion Bird Society (GCBS) Meetup Group, also known as "Bird Club"!
PLEASE NOTE - due to continuing H5N1 Bird Flu concerns, in-person meetups for our group have been placed on hold. PLEASE STAY TUNED for upcoming outdoor events, potential indoor events in the near future (with some new safety rules), as well as opportunities for GCBS Bird Club members to help support local parrot rescues in the meantime!
The Georgia Companion Bird Society (formerly known as The Georgia Cage Bird Society) was formed in 1955. GCBS is a club for devoted parrot & bird owners/lovers. Our current purpose is to bring parrot people together for education, support, fun, networking, and friendship, and as an "ADOPT DON'T SHOP" organization, we actively support 501(c)(3) parrot rescues & sanctuaries, especially in the Atlanta metro area, to help the hundreds of birds in their care. We are continually seeking better ways to improve the lives of our companion birds, particularly parrots of all shapes and sizes.
Our regular meetings are held monthly at the Smyrna Community Center in Smyrna, GA (although we're currently on bird-flu hiatus). Meetings include social gatherings, educational presentations by various individuals with expertise in specific parrot/bird topics, well-bird vet/grooming clinics by local Avian Veterinarians, as well as plenty of interaction with both bird and human attendees.
In addition to the meetings, we enjoy Spring and Fall bird picnics at Red Top Mountain, bird-focused field trips, & separately from the club, many of us enjoy "Birds' Brunches or Dinners Out" at various patio restaurants in the Atlanta area.
Most of our meetings are bird-friendly and include our healthy, annually-vetted, well-mannered feathered kids to socialize with other birds & humans! (Outdoor gatherings require harnesses or carriers for the safety of all birds.) Birdie attendees range from the tiniest of finches to the largest of macaws and every kind of parrot in between.

In addition, your 1st GCBS Meetup meeting is FREE!
Afterwards, annual GCBS membership is $25.00 Individual or $30.00 Family, and our meetups are included in that fee. (Individual meeting cost is $5 if you don't wish to become a paid GCBS member.) Fees can be paid or renewed at meetings or through PayPal. Fees help offset the expenses to host our club meetings, picnics, and Meetup site.
