What we’re about
The Girls, The Gays, and The Great Outdoors (GGGO) is an inclusive hiking and camping group for LGBTQ+ adventurers in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. Whether you’re an experienced backpacker or just starting to explore the outdoors, our group offers a fun and welcoming space to connect with nature and build community.
We will host hikes at North Carolina state parks and greenways. Trails may range from easy 2-mile scenic strolls to more challenging 10-mile backcountry treks. We strive to make all outings inclusive for various experience levels and physical abilities.

While we’re not participating officially as a group team, we invite everyone to register individually and join the fun. Many of us are planning to race in the noon heat on Saturday, May 24th if you'd like to be part of the same wave!Whether you'd like to run, walk, skip, or crawl through the mud, this is a day to laugh, support, and cheer each other on. Feel free to wear your brightest colors and show up however you feel most empowered!
