What we’re about
Hello! I’m a full-time single dad to two girls, and I’d like to try and meet other parents—meeting up in the park, exploring museums, or grabbing a coffee while the kids play. I’m hoping to make some real connections.
A bit about me: I’m currently based in Greenock, but I’m planning to move back to Glasgow soon. While I was studying at the University of Glasgow, I co-founded the UofG Young Parents Network—a group supporting student parents—which was later adopted by the university’s students’ association and became an official part of the student experience. I’m hoping to bring that same spirit of community into this group.
I’ve now been a full-time single parent for the past two years and also work full time, so I understand how overwhelming—and lonely—this experience can sometimes be.
I try to get my girls outdoors as much as possible—less screen time, more real life. If you’re looking for a laid-back, welcoming community of fellow parents from all backgrounds, I’d love it if we could make that happen.
If the group takes off, I’d love help from others to organise things, suggest ideas, and co-host meetups.
Here’s what I’m hoping for:
- Family-friendly meetups like park days, museum trips, or local events
- A non-judgmental, inclusive space for single mums, dads, and carers of all backgrounds
- Occasional kid-free catch ups for some adult conversation and support
- Low-cost or free events, always being mindful of accessibility and transport
- A WhatsApp group as our main way of keeping in touch and planning
- An in-person event every 2–4 weeks, depending on what works for everyone
I’m here because I want to build a community where we can support each other, share experiences, and maybe make life a little easier for each other. Maybe you’d like that too?
