A rough, pathless descent over loose surfaces means this is not a C walk.

An original circular walking route starting from the Ben A'an car park in the Trossachs. Ben A'an is a steep little pull on a good path. What it lacks in height it makes up with character, providing unrivalled views down Loch Katrine.

This is the point where the fun really starts: the best part of the walk is the off-path descent to the lochside through a fine, native oak forest. The route is steep with bare earth, heather and squelchy bits. The look and feel of this forest is very different from plantation oaks grown to supply the navy, with lots of fallen wood and a rich biome.

The return route is along the lochside via the pier for the Loch Katrine ferry and the Great Trossachs path.

There is an excellent tearoom in nearby Brig O' Turk.
